Over the next few weeks, I will be writing about “Social Signals in Search”.
The fact is, what you do in Facebook, Twitter and Google+ directly affects search. How your site is found, indexed, and displayed is connected to social. I will dive into some of these specific areas moving forward. For now, I am going to start with a general timeline of where we’ve been over the last couple of years.

This timeline clearly demonstrates the direction that search is moving in in regards to social data. As social media has become a more important part of everyone’s daily life, the search engines have taken note. A big part of search engine ranking is based on trust, and if social media shows that users trust certain links more than others, that will play a part in its ranking.
